Recruitment Drive For Tech: Microsoft and Huawei Hiring For 300+ New Jobs In Ireland

Microsoft Ireland To Create 200 Jobs At New €27m Engineering Hub In Dublin

Recently, Microsoft announced of expanding its workforce in Ireland with the creation of 200 engineering roles at a new engineering hub in Co Dublin. The new engineering recruits will be joining its existing 600-strong team at Leopardstown campus, thus bringing the total number of people employed by Microsoft in Ireland to more than 2700.

With the announcement of 200 new jobs, Microsoft Ireland will be growing its digital sales team. The tech giant is seeking skilled cloud solution architects, technical sales specialists, sales representatives, account executives, and sales managers to join the diligent team at its EMA digital sales centre, Dublin. They will be working on developing, deploying and supporting cloud services and new technology for customers throughout the globe.

Microsoft is looking for professionals with good fluency in European languages to serve its expanding sales region in Europe, Middle East and Africa. Candidates fluent in languages including French, English, Italian, Swedish, German, Spanish, Dutch and Norwegian will be of particular interest to serve in the EMEA region. Recruitment for these new positions is currently underway with the tech giant planning to fill all the vacant roles by May this year.

The recent announcement also revealed details of the Microsoft Sales Academy that will train a diverse pipeline of people in digital sales. In fact, among the 200 new roles announced, 25 positions will come through the training academy. These candidates require no prior experience and will be simply hired from a variety of backgrounds. The 6-month programme will train the candidates in skills they require to sell digital transformation tools to various companies around the world.

Huawei To Invest €80m Into Irish R&D And Create 110 New Jobs In Ireland

Huawei Technologies Co. Ltd, a leading Chinese technology firm, has recently announced the creation of 110 new jobs in Ireland by the end of 2022, as part of its continued expansion in the country. Also, Huawei has announced a further investment of €80 million in research and development to support its expanding business in Ireland. That is in addition to the €60 million investment the company announced in 2019.

The new jobs will be meeting the sustained growing demand for Huawei’s products and services across its R&D, sales, IT development and consumer division. These new recruits will bring Huawei’s total workforce in Ireland to 590 and it will be spread across Cork, Dublin and Athlone. The tech firm has a strong focus on helping all its business partners roll out 5G throughout Ireland in the coming years. Huawei’s new investment is supported by IDA Ireland.

Tony Yangxu, the New Chief Executive of Huawei Ireland, said, “ Huawei has a long-term commitment to Ireland, where since 2004 we have built a world-class team servicing our ever-growing consumer and enterprise customer bases.” The Chief Executive further added, “We are delighted to see such growth in our workforce and business. Today’s announcement is testament to the strength of those, as well as the ongoing success of our research and development programme.”

According to IDA Ireland CEO Martin Shanahan, Huawei’s investment will add “substantially” to Ireland’s technology and R&D ecosystem. Huawei’s research and development in Ireland focus on cloud computing, 5G, artificial intelligence, video and site-reliability engineering. The tech giant has a broad range of activities in the country where it serves all the major telecommunications providers with products and business solutions. The roll-out of 5G technology in Ireland is the actual focus for this China-headquartered telecom equipment maker.
